Tide Alert is built on data published by hydrographic agencies, research institutions and weather services. These are the sources behind the tides, wind, swell and moon data in the app.

Global tide model

Global tide predictions use harmonic constants from EOT20 (Hart-Davis et al. 2021, https://doi.org/10.17882/79489) and, at estuary ports, TICON-4 (Hart-Davis et al. 2025, https://doi.org/10.17882/109129) — both CC BY 4.0 — derived from GESLA-4 tide-gauge records. Records from SMHI, DMI, the Finnish Meteorological Institute, and Kartverket / the Norwegian Hydrographic Service are used under CC BY 4.0. Records are also provided by Fisheries and Oceans Canada, Rijkswaterstaat, and Germany's WSV / PEGELONLINE and Bundesanstalt für Gewässerkunde (BfG).
